Meet the Teachers!

Ready for another year!
Christian has Mrs. Turek. She just moved back up here from Washington County.
Cameron has Mrs. Carbajal. He has Zak in his class!!
Mikelle was thrilled to get Mrs. Nielsen!
We are also ready to rock for another year in PTA! I am serving again as the Commissioner over Health & Safety. We did a luncheon for the teachers this past week. All of the ladies on the board are so fun to work with!

A 20-hour Girl's Get-Away

Annissa invited me to her girl's overnighter with Trish, Julie, & Mom. Thanks to Kimi, we got a great deal at the Park City Marriott. We ate dinner at the hotel and talked for HOURS! It was so nice to catch up and not be interrupted!! I stayed up way too late but it was so worth the girl talk!
When I arrived home, the kids had made a sign and chocolate covered pretzels to welcome me back!
Mikelle headed all of this up and it was such a fun surprise for me! They all hid on the couch and said "SURPRISE" when I walked in! Those are the moments you treasure the most! Thanks guys!!
Later that day, we went down to the school to check the new class lists/new teacher. Thumbs up or down says it all on the postings!

The Season Finale!

I can't believe summer is over for us! I told the kids at the first of the summer that we would mini golf on our last visit. I am proud to say that I kept my promise and it turned out to be so fun. The shade was so nice too (on most of the 18 holes!)
It has been YEARS since I have golfed there. It was so cute to see how they incorporated the different rides and venues into the golf course!
Way cute kids! I can tell we are all winding down for the summer though as we were all getting short on patience with each other before we arrived that day!
It was another hot one and we welcomed getting drenched on Cliffhanger to cool off!
Mikelle gives Tidal Wave its last ride with her for the year!! Until next year...Good-bye!

Meet the Cast!

We have loved going to the "shows" each time we go to Lagoon. Our favorite cast/show is Broadway Rhythm. At the beginning of the season, one of the performers was giving Kennedy major attention; little winks and waves and she just ate it up! We saw their names on their pictures at the entrance and from that moment on, she wanted to go see "John" in the show!
They do a great job with their vocals, costumes and energy!
On our last Lagoon visit for the season, we asked if we could get John's autograph. After the show, several cast members came out and met with us. They are all darling. We had taken a picture of John's picture and brought it with us for him to sign. Kennedy was in heaven!
I'm sure he thought we were stalking him after Kennedy was sitting on the front row holding his picture through the performance but he was very gracious.
Kennedy will long remember this attention! She told me later at home that John "signed her off and gave her two hugs!" (cute..signed off meaning got his autograph:)
Songs from Hairspray.
Singing "Be Our Guest."
John's performance "I Can Do That" where he does an awesome tap number--even going up and sliding across some of the stage on his toes several times! Ouch! He did tell me that the shoes are getting worn out from doing that all season-so they aren't as much support.
Our favorite girl to watch was Samantha. We loved her number from Wicked and we think she should marry the guy she sings it with!
The boys don't quite share in our Broadway enthusiasm, but at least they are exposed to the arts in between riding Colossus! We had a great summer here!

Aidan's Blessing

At first I thought I posted the pictures out of order again, but looking at the chocolate strawberries I tried to do for Aidan's blessing luncheon, I realized that the dessert deserves a top billing. Aidan will soon come to see that chocolate is almost as important as life itself!
Julie and Hayden at the luncheon.
Jennie and Collin after lunch!
Me trying to be as cute as my siblings & family!
Matt & Kimi looking hot as usual!
Jon & Cami did a great job with a yummy Hawaiian Haystack luncheon! It was so fun to be in their new home!
Izzy & Lexie looking darling in their matching dresses!
Grandma Gus has been hard at work on a quilt for Aidan.
Annissa, Cami & Mom pose for me!
Kennedy & Steve looked so cute before we went up for the blessing; I had to snap a quick picture.

The ever growing Gus family!
More luncheon action!
The guest of honor enjoyed sleeping through the whole gathering! He is so cute!! Jon gave him a beautiful blessing. We loved visiting their ward.
This picture reminds me of a quote: Making the decision to have a child--it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body--Elizabeth Stone. Aidan is so precious!
It was so fun to visit with Cami's family! They are all so sweet! Thanks for sharing her with us!!

Work Hard...Play Hard

We haven't posted for 3 weeks! We have been hard at work and hard at play! If there is one thing as a Mom that I can teach our kids, it would be: learn how to work hard! I have a sister I visit teach who told us about a ward she was in where lots of boys were sent home from their missions because they couldn't hack it. They never had to work (around the house or elsewhere) and when it was time to actually have to lift a finger on their missions, they didn't know how!

Needless to say, when Mikelle had one of her first babysitting offers this weekend, I was beside myself with joy knowing that she was going to get some good experience and learn even more responsibility. She took her new babysitting kit and had a great time. I'm sure she did a great job. She is such a big help to me with the kids! I was so proud of her for taking the opportunity (had to sacrifice not being with her friends that night) that I made her favorite treat; chocolate covered strawberries! Way to go Mikelle!
Kennedy is also such a "big helper" at home and wanted to dip a plate of strawberries for herself!
The boys sure know how to play hard and relax after getting their jobs done! As long as work gets done first, I let them "go wild" afterward!:)
All we want and expect is for the kids to try their best at whatever they do!
Steve has been awesome at getting the kids involved with the yardwork! The boys are almost ready to mow the lawn by themselves!
Kennedy models with the hoe in between cleaning up the flower beds!
Great workers!
Kennedy giving it her all on her workout!
We know that all work and no play makes for a dull boy--so we try to combine the two to make work fun!!
