The Hoedown Throwdown (Summer catch-up) Part I

Yes I am really going to catch up my summer "journal"/blog in 3 posts! Here's to the June edition! We have the best Dad on the planet! Happy belated Father's Day!
Mikelle decided she wanted to play the flute like Aunt Annis and others. Summer band started the first week in June.
At the end of the 3 weeks of daily instruction, AF High School Marching Band surprised them at their performance. It was very inspirational to see (hear) what can happen to our little babies if they will just practice, practice, practice their instruments!
Mikelle on stage performing their numbers they worked on.
Yes we were on the front row to support her!
I think there were only 8 flute spots available and Mikelle and her friends snatched at least 5 of them by being the first to sign up! Yeah!!
Mikelle is very determined once she sets her mind to something. She made her own appointment to see the Bishop for her temple recommend so she could start doing baptisms for the dead. She went many summer mornings before the crack of dawn and took friends with her when they wanted to go. Steve was even able to baptize her one of the early mornings.
It is WONDERFUL to have a temple so close!
The first 3 weeks of June were filled with rainy days which was nice in a way but made us all stir crazy after a while! The kids were good to set up their own obstacle courses in the basement to keep entertained some days!
The karate moves come in handy!
Kennedy is turning out to be quite the little sporty girl!
The rain kind of put a damper on using our Lagoon and 7-Peaks Season passes as much as we would have liked to. No passes next year--just a little 12 ft pool like all of the neighbors did this year! Sounds more relaxing to just stay home and enjoy for a year!
The Dimond fishing day trip was a lot of fun and a huge success for many lucky Dimonds (me not being one of those:(
Uncle Dave, Amy and others were a huge help! Thank you!!
They were so yummy the next day!
Kennedy had her final dance recital at the Covey Center for the Arts which was beautiful! She informed us that this would be her final dance recital as she is dropping out since the costumes as SO ITCHY!! I have no idea where she might get this from!:):) She wants to resume gymnastics!
We all love family gatherings during the summer at the "Megaplex" (inside joke) where we can enjoy the beautiful summer nights, conversation, and get our fill of Aidan and Dottie (and everyone else of course:)

The girls had summer gymnastics with our friends! Why didn't I start more carpools much earlier in life?? They are heavenly!!
We tried to leave notes for our sweet POP to encourage and cheer him on after many, many long hours at work! He would often not get home until midnight from board meetings! He is so looking forward to a vacay in January!! I guess that it about it for June! See you tomorrow for July:)

Let's start at the very beginning...or how about the end?

I can't believe summer is over...(and for a mom to say that, it went by pretty darn fast:). Since I have missed blogging most of the summer, here is the end of it with who else but the darling YW (16 Beehives)! One of the activities they planned in January was to finish up the summer with a luau. We had every girl there and we all had such a fun time.
Sister Snow is from Hawaii and taught us to hula! She even accompanied us on the ukelele!

The girls put all of the moves and the song together and went to town!

Sister Snow brought lava-lava-type wraps they were all able to try on and dance in. The girls are so fun to be around and they always lift us as their leaders so much!
Of course we leaders have to have the "waist-up-only" picture! (We had some pretty good hip action on the "washing-machine-type hula move though:)
My goal is to get us to Hawaii for our 20th Wedding Anniversary here in a few years so I will know simple things like: if you are married, you wear the flower on your left side and if single, wear it on your right! What a fun night along with many others this summer with the YW!

The Last of the Reunion pics...

About a year ago, I thought about getting in shape for my 20 year HS reunion. I even hired a trainer in March for 10 weeks and she was awesome...however the love for the chocolate cake/treats was too much to overcome-only lost 5 lbs. but learned a lot of great moves and a lot about myself in the process.
At reunion time, I was left with no choice but to work with what I had:) I popped on the nails...

Went for the pedi...
Sprayed on a tan...
...and went to see the old gang! It didn't even matter what any of us looked like, EVERYONE was SO genuine, kind, and sincerely interested in catching up with one another! It was SO great!
Everyone was all smiles even though it was almost midnight when we started the late night movie at Kaysville theater! We are all too old to be out that late:)
Cheese!
I thought a ton of people looked the exact same!
At 12:01 a.m. it was officially Suzanne's b-day, so we celebrated!
One of Jon's many poses.
Scott & Circe...now parents of 6 kiddies!
Jason Farris and his wife flew in from CA. Everyone was instantly BFF's with his wife. Great choice Jason! He is doing amazing things on the police force in CA.
Our awesome Sr. Class officers!
Thanks guys!
A few people watched the movie but a lot of people stayed out in the hall to catch up!
I saw two of my girl's choice dance dates and they were still as funny as always!
Thanks Bryce & "Nash" for all the fun times! (That doesn't sound good but you know what I mean)!
Great to see old friends who were also your neighbors!
More chit-chat
I'm sure the camera was getting annoying --but I have got to remember everyone when I am 80 years old rocking in my rocker humming the fight song!
Thanks to so many who flew in from D.C., PA, CA, and even ITALY!
More and more pics of the catching up...

Thanks to ALL who helped organize and pull off the reunion!
I had to escort these guys to their cars! We were all tired at 2 a.m.!
My last photo victims before we hopped in our cars!
Pulled over to get a picture of the marquis on the way home:)
The next night was at Davis--all new since we attended! It was beautiful! Behind Shaunna & me is the table honoring our classmates who have passed. It was so sad yet we will always remember them!
They saved the beloved "D" from "the old school!"
The Sr. Class Officers were so funny...saying if they had known at the time that they would have "been in charge of this for the next 30 years...they never would have run for office!:)"

The food was wonderful (catered by Lauri Storey). I couldn't resist this last shot of our own cute Scott & Amy! So fun to see you all!
