Spring Break 2010

We had spring break the first part of April and it was so fun to just have a few days to relax!
I had worked extra shifts in preparation for the party! Cousin Lexie and Grandma Gus were able to come down and stay with us for a few days!
We started off in tears at Miley's new movie "The Last Song." The boys can't take "chick flicks" and so they were in the theater next door watching "Diary of a Wimpy Kid!" I love watching movies in the theater! It is just so great on the big screen!
The next night we headed up to Sandy's Texas Roadhouse to meet my cousin Melissa for dinner!
She was in town visiting for a good friend's wedding. It was so great to see her! My earliest memory of her is when she was playing outside (when she lived in Ogden) and her Mom would yell, "Liisss!" (Southern accent--love it!)
The boys make good use of all travel time reading their books!
Backing up a little...the girls held little photo shoots in the afternoons!
Oooowww Lou-lou!
I thought this was too cute of Kennedy walking away.
After Texas Roadhouse, we attended Kirby Heyborne's benefit concert at Alta High (his alma mater). He put on the one man show! He has progressed even further as an entertainer and also on his guitar. Near the end he called his former drama teachers (enter Steve) up on stage and sang a tribute to them for influencing his life in such a great way!
They were all dying to be at his (Kirby's) mercy up there but all handled it well! It brought back all of the memories of our "early" married years where Steve taught school and worked countless hours on the highly professional drama productions at Alta. It was so amazing to have that many talented and accomplished drama kids (especially Kirby's Senior year). They are all great friends we will always cherish!
It was also so wonderful to see Paul and Chris again (other drama teachers at the time). Paul filled us in on all of the filming of High School Musical (which he choreographed the dancing number on the roof in the rain:). He apparently had a ballroom dancers reunion coming up and so he was even more tanned and thin than normal! We are jealous!
How awesome to see Kirby again!! The star of the movies "The RM," "the Best Two Years" etc.
It was getting late but we talked forever!
I felt so bad that Kirby looked over in the line (of people waiting to talk with him after) and jumped out and gave us hugs etc--so our group totally went out of order to greet him. This gal and her family waited so patiently while Kirby visited with us. I kept saying "they were first:)" I ended up staying to take pics of them with Kirby and then emailing them all to "Angel Jenny" (the name Kirby gave to her in her white flowing shirt-and for waiting:). Hopefully she isn't too mad:(--sorry!
Saturday we were off to the girls' gymnastics gym to show Lexie where they take lessons. Here is Lexie getting some serious air on the tramp!
Kennedy loves the bars!
Mikelle showing off one of her back tucks! Too bad they are not that easy on the ground!
They had a lot of fun!
Next I dropped the girls off for a massage! They loved the relaxation!
...and we can't forget the nails dah-ling!
Pedi's are always so nice!

They are growing up so fast!
The final color choices! Of course I had to get one too!
After the nails, Steve was going to take the kids to the Rec. Center to swim and play racquetball. They left and Grandma and I were going to go get our massages at the college. Mom was trying to be efficient and go get in the car while I was locking doors etc. She had gone down our garage steps and missed the last one and FELL! I came out to the garage a few minutes later and thought at first she was playing an April Fool's joke on me as she was on the ground with a stunned look but not crying etc. After the shock of the fall had worn off and I realized it was not a joke, Mom was in TREMENDOUS PAIN!
It was such a blessing that the Rec. Centers were closed early that day (without signs or notices on their doors/ phone messages etc.), as Mom was in so much pain that she couldn't get up off the ground for a while. Because they were closed, Steve came home just in time to help me get her up and to the hospital and also give her a blessing before we left. It was inappropriate to get pics at the ER etc as she was hurting (pain level a 10 on the 1-10 scale:), but after we got her home, splinted, and tucked into a recliner to sleep, she allowed a pic with the kids who had made her get well signs and cards/love notes etc. Her shoulder was broken and would need to follow up with an orthopedic surgeon on Monday. It turned out she would need surgery etc. I felt so bad! She will probably not want to visit us anymore:)!
Steve saves the day as all neighbors appeared to be out of town for Spring Break!

We had a gathering previously planned at Jen's house the next day, to visit more with cousin Melissa before she left. Mom was able to make it and we of course had to make fudge as part of tradition!
It is so yummy! You roll it out in logs (with buttered hands) after cooking and cooling and beating it. It is to die for:)!
It was SO good to see our cousins again! It has been quite a while! Melanie and family slipped out before I could get their pic!
More catching up with Melissa!
Lynn & Shirley!
Give us that smile Dulie & Darlie!....
There it is!!
More gathering pics!
Jeff & Annissa!
Sisterly love!
Jen & Lou-lou!
I made Melissa show us a move from her "black belt" days before we left. She was so fun to visit with! On the way home, it was hard to believe the break was over! Our weekend turned back into a pumpkin and we all went on with our lives Monday morning! Except for Grandma's pain/accident, it was such a fun and memorable spring break! Hang in there Mom!! Love ya!

An "Easy-does-it" Easter

I can't believe that I am finally to April catching up on blogging! Yeah! I could have skipped blogging this one altogether but wanted to remember the fake smiles on everyone seeing their Easter basket! I guess the Easter bunny is getting old and the economy is scary for him too!:) We tried to have a nice, easy going week-end just focusing on LDS General Conference and Jesus Christ. I am SO proud of the kids for taking notes and actually listening to the messages! It is so fun to see your kids grow up, learn and progress!
The pinnacle of our egg adventures this season was the boys "egg-heads" which were done in their school class. We loved how well the grass hair grew. Their teacher even let them do a "pinkalicious" one for Kenz. I think hers needed more water:). Happy Be-lated Easter!
