What time is it? It's Summer time! The kids are so ready for some warm wheather and glad school is out! As Mikelle came home from school today she was telling me how it did not seem like school was out yet. After the kids got off the bus, a few moms from the ward and me got together and filled up some water balloons and I bought some confetti cans. School Shirts
Mikelle and her friend Laken had the chance to design the next school t-shirt. Only the 4th and 5th graders participated. They entered the contest and a few other people did too. The whole school got to vote on which shirt they liked best! So a few days ago (Tuesday) they found out over the intercom their shirt design won! They were so HAPPY! For winning they get their t-shirt design for free! (soon to come and we will get a picture of it.)

Sweet Little Kenz...
Kennedy keeps us smiling from the minute she gets up in the morning. She is so sweet and has the cutest things to say. If you are ever out of line, she will call you on that too. It is so cute to see her sing and dance to videos. If Mikelle and Mom have a disagreement, Ken-D will sense the tension and say, "Kelle hates mama.":) She is a smart and wise child and we love her so much! I always tell her "Thanks for coming to our house!!"
Future Cougars
The boys are so excited the snow is gone! It is sports central around here with their football, basketball, and baseball! They love to be outside and have a ball in their hands at all times!
They are looking forward to attending a football camp at BYU this summer where Coach Bronco Mendenhall and other "famous" cougars instruct and inspire them!:) They can't wait. Go Cougars!
Hope Of America
We attended the "Hope of America" at the Marriott Center April 29, 2008. Mikelle and several thousand other elementary students (primarily 5th graders) have been practicing songs and actions all year to come together on this night to perform. It is a patriotic and moving experience to be a part of. Songs about the military, our independence, Martin Luther King, and our country are all beautiful and stir the pride within! Our favorite song comes at the end of the show entitled "We Can Be a Light" (see lower picture). The Marriott Center in dark and the kids use their flashlights as they sing and light up the room. Mikelle really enjoyed being a part of it.
Mikelle's School Play... Robin Hood
Mikelle had a blast being in the school play! She got to be Adela; one of the Merry Maids. She made lots of good friends and was excited to have a speaking part this year! The practices were several times a week. All of the hard work paid off in the end. Kennedy was so excited when recording of the play came home on DVD and loves to watch it daily. We are good friends with the other students and their parents, which make the play something we look forward to each year. We were in charge of all of the ticket sales and although it is lots of fun, it is always good to take a deep breath when you're done!
Happy Easter March 2008
Easter is always so much fun! Each year we look forward to the egg hunt with the Dimonds. We also try to dye eggs and see who can come up with the best "camo" colored egg. Easter Sunday is another way of saying "let's match our clothes!" :) This year we had the opportunity of presenting a family home evening to a local rest home a few days before Easter. We presented one of our favorite stories about Christ. Each plastic egg has a summary of events that occurred in his life. It was a GREAT experience for our family!

California Christmas in February
Christmas morning was a little different this past year. We decided to "bag the junk" and have Santa help us make family memories instead. Although the excitement was 2 months after Christmas, we had a blast flying to California and visiting Disneyland, Legoland and our awesome friends the Gandolas. It was Kennedy's first flight and she was ready to "hop off" after about 20 minutes. Overall, the kids did great and were so cute each pulling their rolling luggage. It was once again nice to escape the Utah winter for a week (although we had a few chilly mornings at Disney). After dropping all of our allowance on mickey ears, gloves, and the very "reasonably priced" food, we were all resolved to the idea of taking family trips instead of receiving formal Christmas gifts. We will see how it goes each year, but for 2008, we loved our new family tradition!
2008 Year in Review
December 29, 2007 marked 15 years of marriage for us. Life was just "too busy" at our 5 and 10 year anniversaries, so by 15 years, we decided it was time to go somewhere special! In January 2008, we took our first cruise to the western carribean. My brother Jon and his wife Cami were also ready to celebrate their anniversary and his MBA graduation. They are experienced cruisers and booked us on the modern-day Titanic (Royal Carribean's Liberty of the Seas). It was such a fun experience and the water was just like you hear about (crystal clear aqua-marine). In the words of my Mom, "Girls!!! It was gorgeous...just beautiful!" Our ports were Labadee, Haiti, Montego Bay Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico. Thanks to my Mom and sisters for tending, we were able to enjoy a week of pure relaxation, exquisite food, fun entertainment and best of all...get out of the cold! It was a bit of heaven on earth!
